Blaisdell designed the chimney design which protected the flame under adverse conditions. The result was a lighter that looked good and was easy to operate. Since then, the Zippo design has changed little and remains basically the same to this day (with minor improvements), what has changed though is their style. Zippos are now available in a variety of styles, including versions in chrome, sterling silver, and brass.
