Tennessee Do Not Resuscitate Bracelets

Tennessee has implemented the POST (Physican Orders for Scope of Treatment) protocol to provide health care treatment instructions for seriously ill adults. However, the legislature made no provision for Tennessee residents to be able to wear a bracelet as a substitute for the form, and Tennessee law requires that your POST form be physically on your person if you are out and about in the community.

If your POST form stipulates that you do not wish to be resuscitated in the event of a cardiac event, you are permitted to use a metal bracelet to alert EMS personnel to the fact that you have a POST form in your wallet or purse. When ordering, be sure to specify whether you want the bracelet to reference wallet or purse, and be sure to always carry your POST form with you wherever you go.
