About us

StickyJ Medical ID and sister company Thoughtful Impressions have been family owned and operated for more than 21 years. The company is led by CEO Lori Torman, who has an eye for great quality and classic styles. In the early days of medical id bracelets (we're talking 1960's), medical alert bracelets were pretty boring -- basically engraved metal tags with curb link chains. The same styles were offered for children, just smaller (no wonder kids didn't want to wear them). And, by the end of the 20th century things hadn't improved that much. Lori was among the first to recognize that medical id's could be fashion conscious, and in 2005 launched designs in leather as well as stainless, and introduced polyester kids medical id bracelets that had cute designs. The sport strap line of child medical id's she introduced nearly 20 years ago is still the most popular line of children's medical jewelry on the market today. And, we now produce more than 100 different styles of medical alert bracelets and necklaces for men and women. Our engraved bracelets are individually custom engraved by our team of master engravers, ship within three (M-F) business days from the date you order, and all products come with a 90 warranty against manufacturing defects. Please come and shop with us today. It will be our pleasure to serve you.

How to Inspire a Fashionable Woman with a Medical Condition to Wear a Medical ID

How to Inspire a Fashionable Woman with a Medical Condition to Wear a Medical ID

Posted by Lori Torman on 17th Sep 2025

To make a medical ID bracelet more appealing for a fashion-conscious woman, focus on stylish designs, customization, and versatile options that integrate seamlessly into her existing wardrobe. Instead of a bulky, obvious medical device, the goal is to find a piece that she will want to wear every day.

Choose a fashionable medical ID

  • Designer-inspired styles: Many companies specialize in medical IDs that mimic high-end jewelry, including tennis bracelets, delicate chain links, and cuffs made from gold, sterling silver, or rose gold.
  • Interchangeable bracelets: Some brands offer a system with a medical ID tag that can be swapped between different bracelet strands, such as beaded, leather, or stainless steel options. This allows her to change the bracelet to match her outfit or mood.
  • Alternative materials: For a more modern and casual look, consider silicone or canvas bands that are durable, waterproof, and available in many colors. These are great for daily wear and during workouts.
  • Hidden or discreet options: For special occasions, a bracelet with a more discreet medical ID plate or a necklace may be a good choice. Smartwatch-compatible ID tags that slide onto her existing Apple Watch band are another subtle option.
  • Focus on comfort and fit
  • Custom sizing: A well-fitting bracelet is more likely to be worn. Work with a company that offers custom sizing to ensure the bracelet is neither too tight nor too loose.
  • Lightweight materials: For all-day comfort, lighter materials like surgical-grade stainless steel, titanium, or silicone can be less irritating and bothersome.
  • Easy closures: Look for closures that are easy to use, such as magnetic clasps for convenience, especially if dexterity is an issue. Or, find a bracelet tool to help her hold the bracelet while attaching the clasp by herself.

Customize and personalize it

  • Style and engraving: Work together to choose a style she loves. Then, select a high-quality engraving that clearly displays essential medical information while maintaining an elegant look.
  • Use creative abbreviations: Use standardized medical abbreviations for conditions (e.g., T1D for Type 1 Diabetes, HBP for High Blood Pressure) to keep the engraving concise and discreet, leaving more room for her name or other stylish elements.

Expand beyond bracelets

  • Medical ID necklaces: For those who prefer necklaces, many fashionable options are available that feature the medical alert symbol on a stylish pendant.
  • Shoe tags and other accessories: If she is highly resistant to wearing wrist jewelry, other options are available, such as shoe tags that attach to shoelaces.

Talk about the "why"

  • Reframe the conversation: Instead of focusing on it as a medical necessity, present it as a fashion accessory that provides peace of mind, similar to an insurance policy.
  • Lead by example: If you also need a medical ID or already wear one, consider getting a new, stylish one for yourself to make a joint fashion statement.
  • Empower her choice: Give her control over the selection process by offering a range of stylish options. When she chooses a piece that matches her taste, she'll feel a sense of ownership and be more likely to wear it.

All of the options listed above can be found online at StickyJ Medical ID.  For 25 years, their mission has been to provide the widest variety of medical ids for women at the most affordable prices.
